With the holidays coming up and everyone thinking about looking their best as they ring in the New Year and attend upcoming events, we thought it would be a great time to talk about one of our most popular services: Lash Extensions!
It’s true that when you have lashes added to your look they give that perfect finishing touch. They can be used to open up the eyes, add drama or simply to help you to have an easy, no-fuss routine in the morning that leaves you looking terrific to tackle the day.
In this post, we’re covering some of your biggest lash questions when it comes to extensions and we invite you to schedule an upcoming lash service with us!
1. HOW LONG DOES A LASH EXTENSION SERVICE TAKE?
While the process can differ based on the client’s desired lash style as well as the condition of their natural lashes, most lash extension appointments will take anywhere from 90 minutes to 2 hours to complete. After that, you will see the lash artist every 4-6 weeks for a refill and touch-up.
2. WHAT THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A LASH EXTENSIONS AND A STRIP APPLICATION?
In case you’re still new to the idea of false eyelashes, you might be wondering what the difference is between having a service done by a professional and just going to the drug store to buy lashes to apply at home. The lashes in the store typically come in a strip or band style and are attached along the top of your eyelash by your area lid using an adhesive. With lash extensions, you’re not only getting individual lashes added to each strand, but they are placed on top of your lash using a special glue and placed strategically by an expert. The difference in results is astonishing.
3. SHOULD LASH STYLES BE BASED ON EYE SHAPE?
This answer is compounded. A great lash artist is going to be able to do a number of different lash variation styles on you. However, there are certain styles that can be chosen if you want to correct an issue (like hooded lids or lifting downturned eyes.) For the best result, work with your artist to explain the end result you desire. Choices to create the different styles can be done using thicker lashes, varied curl styles and even applying more than one strand to each lash.
4. HOW LONG WILL A LASH SERVICE LAST?
There are many factors that will determine how long your lashes last. First, you should always use a reputable and experienced lash technician. They will not only use the highest quality lashes and glue, but their expert application methods will set your lashes up to look great and last long. The natural process that our lashes shed will also play a factor. Most people will have their own lashes fall out naturally every 2-4 weeks. Just like a nail appointment, you’ll need to have a fill within this time period. For some, this can even be up to 5 weeks before a touch-up and refresh is needed. If you take care of your lashes and get regular fills, the set can last you up to a year.
5. CAN YOU GET LASH EXTENSIONS IF YOU HAVE ALLERGIES OR ARE PREGNANT?
Yes, with some extra care you can. If you love having longer, better-looking eyelashes, don’t let seasonal allergies or being pregnant stop you from pampering yourself. Since it’s a non-invasive procedure, you don’t have to worry about that. There is glue involved, but if you’re already used to the glue and don’t have an issue with it then you don’t need to worry about a reaction. (Always ask your doctor first to ease any worries.)
If dry, itchy watery eyes are your allergy issue, then you may need to take some extra steps to keep your eyes dry so they don’t affect the integrity and longevity of your lashes.
